It’s all Energy

We are all energy. The place we inhabit is energy. We connect with each other through energy. Energy connects us to our world and inwards – our mind to our body.

Mind:body connection

An important concept is the understanding that what goes in the mind – the thoughts, feelings (both good and bad) and memories – are shared with the body. An example of this would be the joyful feeling arising in the mind due to passing time with lived ones in a beautiful place: this would have a positive impact on the body – perhaps a sense of energy and freedom in the joints and movement. On a less joyful note, there is a connection between thoughts and feelings arising in the mind and body symptoms: for example shoulder pain may arise in the physical body where someone feels under pressure – literally carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders; or throat discomfort where someone feels unable to speak up about their feelings. I’m sure you can think of other examples of this correlation.

Conversely, what goes on in the body – perhaps a recently injured knee for example – will affect the mind. A sense of disappointment, anger or even depression as a result of the pain and resultant lack of mobility. The impact of ongoing pain can be quite profound on the mental level.

This interaction can be demonstrated on many levels – and the examples are simply to illustrate the connection: perhaps you can think of examples in your own situation?

Energy Block Release

In Dru Yoga we have the concept of Energy Block Release sequences. The premise here being that the free flow of energy around the body can become blocked when the mind is holding onto feelings of being stuck in the past, for example. As a result of allowing those physical symptoms to sit in the body – to become embodies in the physical, as it were, – longer term symptoms can arise. A sense of discomfort, and ultimately leading to embodied dis-ease.

The Dru Yoga Energy Block Releases are constructed to help unblock the physical (through specific free flowing sequences) and the mental (through positive affirmations relevant to the sequence). When the body and mind are encouraged to let go of those blockages energy can flow freely – and dis-ease can be nudged along.

Free flowing energy is the key to health and good relationships – with the world around you, the people you meet and the physical body/mind. It’s all energy.
