Online Yoga

Here in the UK we’re into our second week of ‘staying home’ as the Coronavirus Covid-19 sweeps the world. All of a sudden 2 weeks ago our in-person classes were brought to a halt prior to the government’s enforced ‘lockdown’.

Yoga has been shown time and time again to be of benefit in times of crisis and many yoga teachers have been in a race to get their classes into the digital world. My online offering is via the online app Zoom. This last week has been a steep learning curve and I’m no expert yet, but in this case imperfect is good enough – it’s a work in progress!

Why Yoga Online?

For me the motivation for continuing my schedule is 2-fold

  • To stay in touch with my students so they can continue their practice with me
  • To reach out and offer positive vibes to anyone who wants to join in

As such the classes focus on simple flowing movements which gently mobilise the body, encouraging the participants to listen to their breath as they move – and backed up by some positive affirmations. Here you will not find extensive stretching, difficult positions or any major physical challenges. It’s about nurturing you.

Commute Yoga

It was my daughter who suggested these sessions – a way of bridging the gap between rolling out of bed and starting work at the start of the day, and the 5:30pm ‘commute home’ time to switch off the laptop and end the working day. It’s too easy to fall out of a routine, particularly if you’re new to working from home. I’m offering this as a way of enabling you to have a routine. The focus here is spinal alignment and ease of movement.

Dru yoga lends itself very well to this sort of format with the simple, flowing movements many of which can be done standing or sitting.
