Cold Moon

Cold Moon

The December Full Moon is named the Cold Moon; named after December’s cold, long nights and alternatively known as the Frost or the Winter Moon. It is, in the Northern Hemisphere, the longest full moon of the year – meaning the moon in it’s full, glowing glory is visible in our night sky for 3 whole nights: and (unless by chance there are 2 Full Moons in the month) – it is the last of the year. This year the Cold Moon fell on 19th December – the date of our final Stranded, Yoga at St Mary’s Lighthouse for 2021.

The last full moon of the year is nature’s way of signing off the year. A full moon is generally considered to be a time of retrospection – look back and appreciate all that you have in your life with gratitude. How far you have travelled. The period of retrospection is, of course, up to you – the last month, year – or even your lifetime.

The DArk Side

As the moon wanes and we travel toward the dark side of the moon we have the opportunity to clear – to let go – of those things which are no longer relevant. That sense of transformation, letting go, making space – is a lifetime journey as life is indeed a constant path of change.

New Moon

The New Moon following the Cold Moon of December this year falls on January 2nd 2022. How auspicious indeed! – A day when, after the celebrations of New Year, many peop0le turn their thoughts to the ‘New Year Resolutions’. The difference this year of course being the additional power of the New Moon.

So with the Fullness of the moon appearing in the sky before it turns and begins to wane – I invite you, dear reader, to turn to a bit of silent introspection. What are you grateful for right now? What are you proud of? How is your life progressing so far?

You can add to this list over the next few days before you turn your attention to the process of moving forward. Not everything you hold on to right now will serve you as the New Year approaches and beyond. Things, thoughts, attitudes, desires – things on every level can weigh us down.

Dru Yoga

Dru yoga is built on the principle of constant flow of energy – releasing those things which no longer fit. Attitudes, feelings, thoughts – things – that we hold onto can create blockages in our body (physical and metaphysical). In Dru we create a space so those things can flow. And space creates a vacuum where new beginnings can take hold.

Choose Love

Let us collectively create space by letting go of fear – so that love can settle and be the base for 2022. Fear and love can not cohabit. Choose love.
