Self care – what is it? And why sixty days?
A personal challenge – or a lifestyle check?
The last one’s easy – in just over sixty days it will be my sixtieth birthday – and so, as the lead up – sixty days of self care.
And self care – what do I mean by that?
Self Care
I would take self care to be those activities or deliberate actions which contribute to my wellbeing – be that on a physical, emotional or mental level.
Broadly then, self-care to me includes lifestyle considerations – and luckily for me I have plenty time to indulge as I no longer have a 9-5 job.
I’ll look at what goes into my body – food, supplements, music – all the good stuff which acts on me.
Lifestyle choice – exercise, yoga, personal routine, treatments I may choose to undertake. Cold water therapy, dog walks in nature, meeting friends – the list goes on. And even a party to celebrate the big day – surely that counts as self-care too?
Sixty Days of Self Care – A Personal Challenge
So essentially, I’m challenging myself to contemplate and act upon those sixty things which could be considered to actively act upon my wellbeing – all different and all in the sixty days lead up to the big day. Phew – that’s tiring already! And I’m intending to log the journey on an Instagram page – a work in progress: let’s see if I can do it?!
