Stranded – Winter 2022 Edition
It’s mind-blowing how it seems such a short time since our summer gathering at St Mary’s Lighthouse – but here we are; Stranded – Winter Edition 2022: Dru Yoga at the Island. 5 hours of blissful ‘me time’.
We arrived in good time to avoid a close encounter with the incoming tide and gathered in the warm room assigned for the duration of our stranded experience. As it was and early start (10am on a Sunday is early. Right?) we began with my daily morning practice routine. Connecting with the elements and chanting the Gayatri mantra. I don’t normally offer chanting, but here it felt right – and a good start to the gathering.
The water covers the path
As always, we gathered outside to watch the water cover the causeway. Now we were stranded – and time to get on with the order of the day. A journey inside accompanied by Dru Yoga and some relaxation. What could be better?
The journey within
I like to have an overall theme for the day, and despite there being three sessions interspersed by tea and lunch breaks, today was no exception.
The journey within included an invitation to ‘Be Here Now’ in order to connect with the inner guide and our personal purpose. To ‘Cut through the Illusion’ and let go of whatever we may be holding onto that is holding us back. Yesterday is gone and all our tomorrows depend on our attitude and actions today. We concluded the second session with a beautiful ‘Empowerment Sequence’ and meditation.
The final session recapped all of the days lessons and reinforcing the sense of personal power we concluded with the ‘Salutation to Dhruva’ – where ‘Dhruva’ is the Sanskrit name for the North Star. The North Star being a still point in the sky – and equally represented by our personal still point within.
There was an opportunity to climb the lighthouse and view the coastline, to appreciate the gatherings of local birds whilst the day-trippers were excluded and to relax in the most stunning of natural locations.
The day concluded – after a relaxation, of course, with the parting of the waves – uncovering the causeway for a safe exit from the Island – now connected to the mainland, of course.

All that remains is for me to thank all those who chose to spent the day with me – most for the second, third or even more’th time. I am grateful for you all. The next event will be in the height of summer. Watch this space for information about Stranded – Summer 2023 Edition.
