Inner Strength
What is the meaning of inner strength? And how does that relate to the practice of yoga?
Inner strength, to me, infers the ability to find and stay in your centre – in the face of adversity, under pressure and at all times. In effect, the quality of resilience. Perhaps staying constantly centred is a bit of a stretch – perhaps the ability to recover quickly from difficulties, or to spring back to centre more readily if something knocks you out of kilter.
Inner strength through Dru Yoga
In Dru Yoga we often refer to the art of being centred – physically and emotionally. In practicing yoga, therefore, we practise finding and holding our centre. Dru Yoga is performed mindfully and accesses all parts of the self – the physical, emotional and the energetic. It is logical, therefore, that when under pressure we are able to use that training. Dru Yoga builds inner strength through regular practice.
Inner strength through Dru meditation
In meditation we take that a step further and talk about finding and hovering at our still point within. Meditation is the practice of stillness. The art of going inside and stilling the mind. There are a number of ways of accessing that still point. Practising meditation regularly results in the ability to access that still point within more readily. When you are able to find calm and stillness within with ease you find you are living life from the position of personal resilience.
Meditation builds inner strength through regular practice.
