Go with the flow
“Going with the flow is responding to cues from the universe. When you go with the flow, you’re surfing Life force. It’s about wakeful trust and total collaboration with what’s showing up for you.” ~Danielle LaPorte.
When you ‘go with the flow’ of life everything runs smoothly. The hurdles that may appear when life is difficult simply don’t exist. Life is calm, productive and a good place to be.
The river
Let us consider the flow of a river – perhaps a wide river, running smoothly through the valley. The sun is shining and there is soft green grass on the banks. Our journey down that river (perhaps we are simply floating down) is smooth, unhindered, pleasant.
At some point there is an increase in vegetation on the sides – more reeds, long grass. Our pleasant floating experience becomes a little more hazardous. Perhaps we become tangled in the grass if we drift from the centre of the river. Those reeds may thicken, trap us, hinder us – or we may avoid them and drift on by.
Perhaps we happen upon a waterfall and end up tumbling helplessly through a violent patch. Hopefully coming to a pool below relatively unscathed!
The journey
Perhaps the river’s passage becomes hindered by boulders and we have some avoiding to do – we may of course get stuck and have to fix our boat before being able to move on. Blockages along the way can’t always be avoided.
The river may fork. Perhaps we choose the path leading to a pond – even a dead end. Perhaps a still pond where lilies can grow and we can bathe in the lovely stillness awhile. We might eventually have to choose to return to the flow – or to find a small stream back to the main flow. Either way, sometimes it is difficult to assess which of the forks is the right one: such is the journey.
You are not alone
Perhaps in the river we have to cross a part where the wildlife is a little more active than we would like – predators, noise, unknow creatures. Maybe we just have to find a way of dealing with those – learning to live with them, making friends with them: whatever that may be.
Perhaps once in a while we need someone to throw us a float to help us stay above the surface.
Towards the sea
And back to the middle of the river, smoothly running – hopefully – as the river approaches the sea. The sea – where no river is ever refused. Where the fresh river water meets the salt of the ocean and all water merges together. Where water evaporates and forms clouds which then
empty their load on the maintains – fresh water beginning again its journey down the mountain.
Go with the flow
When we go with the flow life is good. When we fight it or run into difficulties it adds to the story.
