Benefits of yoga
Yoga is great for your mindset, emotional and physical fitness. To yoga is to connect – to the mind, body and spirit via the medium of the breath. When we yoga we allow our effort ant energy to flow through all aspects of who we are.
Yoga and stress
As a result, yoga is renowned as a means of combating stress, adding yoga to your daily self-care routine will help calm the mind (and as a result, improve your health). Join us daily online for our 8am sessions to start your day. Stress increases heart rate, heightens cortisol levels and elevated blood pressure. These symptoms alone are shown to increase the risk of cardiovascular dis-ease.
Increased cortisol is a result of activating the sympathetic nervous system – constant low-level stress, which can be a constant feature in our modern lives, means that we live with constant pressure on our fight-or flight response. Yoga can essentially turn off that fight-or-flight response, tapping into the parasympathetic nervous system instead, also known as rest-and-digest response: telling the body to let go of unwanted stress and redirect towards relaxation.
Raising the vibe
Conversely if you’re a little down when you wake up, yoga is great for that too: combatting depression, taking on a positive physical and mental start to the day: You are welcome to join us daily for your 20-minute Dru Yoga morning routine.
With the focus on the physical, yoga benefits the joints and muscular systems. A healthy, mobile and strong physical body underpins a healthy whole.

In Dru we also focus on connecting to the mental – our practice will have an underlying theme: from a healthy back through connection to the elements and to the moon.
