Energy Block Release
Energy block release – what does it mean and why is it important?
Stress
Life is never smooth going – stressful events happen and how we deal with them matters. Stress that is not dealt with on every level (emotion, physical and mental) can – and will – sit in the body. Where and how this stress resides will depend on factors such as how recent the stress was, which layer of the ‘self’ is affected and lifestyle of the individual.
Stress, then, can take the form of a physical blow, for example. That type of stress will have an impact on the physical body and may sit purely within the physical realm. But what if the blow was accompanied by some emotional or mental aspect? – perhaps a traumatic accident or some sort of personal attack? In this case there would be an additional mental aspect to the stress which would reside in the emotional or mental layers of the self (see this post for discussion of koshas, or layers of the self).
Koshas
Stress that is not dealt with can bury itself deeper in the body – and show up some time later as discomfort – or dis-ease. For example, there is a demonstratable connection between the feeling of shoulder pain and a feeling of always feeling like you are wearing the weight of the world on the shoulders.
The discomfort can appear even deeper – affecting the organs of the body. The heart, for example, if there is loss of connection – or the lungs where a feeling of lingering sadness may reside.
Dru Yoga and Energy Block Release
In Dru yoga we have a number of Energy Block Release sequences – each one combining some physical movements and some deeper work with the koshas – designed to release and invite stress to move away; leaving the body and mind to find its own harmony. After all, the body wants to be in a state of homeostasis – or balance – and will be delighted to have this opportunity to have the time and space to activate its own innate intelligence. Dru yoga is more than movement and postures – it is a whole system of self-care.
