Can yoga help you create a better New Year?

Have you decided ‘this is it’ and made a resolution to make this year THE YEAR to transform your life?

Did you do the same last year? Is today the day it’s all changing? It’s easy to be swept up in the frenzy to make radical changes to your life – but have you done so having given thought to whether these changes really resonate with your deeper self? Are these your dreams or are you following someone else’s dream?

Please consider being kind to yourself. Baby steps. Forcing yourself to comply with someone else’s dream just adds more stress to your life. Be kind to yourself – take the time to consider what YOU want.

How can yoga help?

Yoga is a way of switching off that busy mind and allowing a deeper part of you to emerge. I often describe Dru Yoga as meditation in movement. We focus the mind  by moving the body and incorporating the breath – as a result relaxing the body and mind. Reaching a beautiful state of flow frees the busy mind, and freeing the busy mind allows that inner part of us to be creative.

In Dru Yoga we offer a range of sequences which are designed to gently ease the body and mind towards a goal. For example:

Energy Block Sequence 1 – the primary series: is designed to gently ease away physical blocks in the spine – it is our spinal alignment sequence. On a deeper level it is said that we hold emotions and pain in our joints – and this sequence allows energy to flow through those blockages, creating freedom from past scars.

The Gift – is a simple sequence in which we can let go of problematic emotions attached to a life event (for example) and use the energy to learn and move forward with joy.

The attraction sequence – is a way of focusing on our deepest desires and drawing energy from within to create momentum towards our dreams.
