Morning Yoga

Morning Yoga

My morning yoga class started at the beginning of 2020 – when all the lockdown thing kicked off. When many people worked from home and their morning commute shrank to a trot from bedroom to kitchen.

20 minutes of yoga was just enough to mobilize and set the intention for the working day.

Morning routine

For me it became a morning routine I didn’t want to give up – and a people dropped out to return to their normal commute or to get the children off to school, I continued the practice. The numbers dropped and the remaining folk were like me – no young children and no place to rush off to. People who wanted to start their day on a positive note.

2O MINUTES

8am on zoom for 20 minutes – we aim to mobilize the spine, stretch the body (in the gentlest way) and set our intention for the day ahead. These days the busy mothers are gone, the commuters are back on the train and all that’s left are a few who value the simple, nourishing self-affirming routine of 20 minutes of me-time in the morning.

I’ve got to be honest, it’s my morning routine I’m sharing. Movements that take my mind and body from ‘ugh- do I have to move’ to ‘I’m ready’ (usually ready for my first coffee!). Some days I will be admiring the changing seasons via the trees through the window and some times I’ll close my eyes and move very slowly. Sometimes I’ll reach for the stars and other times I’ll search for the stillness inside.
